    Powder Room Mosaic Wall

    When we built our house over 20 years ago we chose a pedestal sink for the powder room.  But we never put any kind of backsplash behind the sink so the wall was constantly getting splashed.  I had been wanting to do a mosaic somewhere and this seemed like the perfect place.  I had also done these four cross-stitch pictures and had them framed.  I looked at them and chose some elements from the design and drew them on the wall for my mosaic.I used tile and glass pieces and READ MORE

    Vintage Crystal Chandelier

    I always keep my eye out for a crystal chandelier.  They aren’t easy to find at a decent price!  I really like the smaller ones with old brass.  They can go so many places in the house including the bathroom, laundry room, or baby’s room.It was dusty and dirty so the crystals didn’t shine as well and the brass was dirty.  I always take off all of the crystals and give them a good bath in soap and warm water.  I take a picture of where all of the crystals are located before removing READ MORE

    Powder Room Makeover

    In 2020 I worked on a few projects around our home.  Getting the laundry room updated has spurred me on to tackle the little powder room off of our kitchen.  I had painted this room this deep gold color several years ago and am ready for something lighter.  I did the mosaic on the wall years ago too and I will do a separate posting on that.I also am planning to change out the towel bar and porcelain toilet paper holder.There were several nail pops in the drywall in this room.  READ MORE

    My Office Makeover

    Laundry Room Makeover

    Getting Ready for First Friday

    This weekend I did a final push to get several pieces of furniture ready for First Friday in the Historic West Bottoms of Kansas City.  Every first Friday weekend of each month, all of the warehouses turned antique and vintage shopping, open for a street festival type of shopping experience.  Some of the stores in the West Bottoms are only open on that weekend.  The store we are in, called The Painted Sofa, is open weekly with extended hours on First Friday weekend.  There READ MORE
