    Two Recent Vintage Finds

    Front Porch Summer Flowers

    The spring time pansies I planted in my front porch pots were starting to look scraggly and I knew they would survive the summer heat in Kansas.   So it was time to replant with sun tolerant flowers for the summer.I decided to leave some of the plants that were doing OK and replace the pansies with these.I can’t wait to see the Florida Blue Lisianthus bloom.  They are the plants directly in front of and beside the ornamental cabbage.Much better!  All ready for July 4th!     Ceiling Details on the Tree House

    On goes the ceiling! The rafters are all up on the tree house and now it's time for the ceiling!  We had to do the ceiling treatment before putting the roof on top.  We were inspired by some bracing we saw in an old building and thought it would be a cool detail to add to our ceiling. Due to a rainy stretch in the weather we had to wrangle tarps for a few days.  But I love those braces!     Framing The Tree House

    Let the rebuilding begin! It's the heat of summer but the deck building is underway!  Mr. Butterfly, Dennis, is framing the tree house! The old flooring is all removed and replaced with plywood and the railing is off.  The two-story storage area is going up on the south end of the deck.  Its roof line is getting tied into the gazebo.  Our gazebo will not be enclosed and will be the grill deck.
