Dresser Turned Office Credenza

I picked up this dresser from a local thrift store.  I loved that the dresser was up on legs, I loved all of the drawers this dresser had, and I loved the doors with two drawers behind them.  This dresser was pretty dinged up but I could see the potential.  It had a couple spots on the top that I repaired.

Next I cleaned the dresser really well with diluted Simple Green and then rinsed with water.  I decided to use a dark gray color from the Amy Howard One Step paint line called Graphite.  I am really drawn to gray right now, as most of the decorating world is.  It is so versatile and classic.  I did not distress this piece and topped with clear wax.  I also cleaned and buffed the hardware with Brasso to add a little shine.

Vintage Market Days Graphite Dresser

Here is how she turned out!  I took it to the Vintage Market Days show in June but it did not sell.  I guess there was a reason…

Dresser into credenza with keyboard drawerI decided this would make a great credenza for our home office!  But it didn’t have a keyboard drawer.  So Mr. Butterfly, being the handy guy he is, converted the top center drawer into a keyboard drawer for me.  I love it so much!  This replaced an awful old particle board credenza we had here before.  I love that when I am finished with the computer at night, I can close it up and it looks pretty!  The dresser drawers also offer a huge amount of storage space and are able to hide a lot of the unsightly stuff we had stored in our credenza.

I still intend to paint the inside of the drawer and the roll out keyboard shelf.  I am so happy with how it turned out!  And I am glad it didn’t sell!  Now it’s time to repaint those walls…
